SATURDAY CLASSES:
Rockin' Everywhere - Andrea & Laurel, All levels
Swing dancing isn't just putting your feet down in a certain way or in a certain timing. We’ll kick off the weekend by bringing the whole body into the dance through isolations, intentional body movement, and playful exercises. The goal is to build greater body awareness, expand your movement options, and create dancing that feels more expressive from head to toe, BUTT especially down below.
Dance Lab: Dissecting Your Movement - Andrea & Laurel, Advanced
As advanced dancers, we need a keen eye and a love of the scientific method to make the shift from moves to movement. We'll start with a movement, pose questions, hypothesize, and experiment to create new proven favorites.
Same Foot Shenanigans - Hannah & Tim, Advanced
Smooth and creative blur the line between choreo and social on the floor.
Ye Ole Wrap and Trap - Hannah & Tim, Intermediate
Seamless and flowy ways to get into fun wraps and arm holds.
Getting Rhythm in Your Feet - Andrea & Laurel, Intermediate
Practice applying rhythms to your footwork to change the tone and texture of your connection to the floor. Be inspired to play with rhythms, not simply for the sake of sound, but also for the development of a richer experience through communication with your partner and through your movements.
Sunday Electives CLASSES:
First Cousins - Andrea & Laurel, Elective
Why aren't we doing this stuff anymore? Charleston is a first cousin once removed from its kid cousin Lindy Hop. Who cares if they like different childhood cartoons? They can still hang together. We'll play with going in and out of Charleston rhythms and dare you to try keeping this bag of tricks off the dance floor. And by the way, if you're doing full songs of charleston, you're a maniac and the reason the shag kids think their dance is legit culture. Too much?
Solo Jazz for Misfits - Andrea & Laurel, Elective
We'll learn a simple and fun solo routine that we're sure will sweep the nation — after you learn it and show like ... a bunch of people — and learn to make it feel like your own, while also being recognizable to others. We'll explore how far we can push a move before the whole thing implodes, and then pull back into an acceptable, but frankly, dangerous zone.
St Louis Shag and Lindy Hop Integration - Hannah & Tim, Elective
We will explore ways to use established breaks to cleanly transition between St. Louis shag and our beloved Lindy.
Blip Blip Routine - Hannah & Tim, Elective
YouTube it (bli-blip Marie Bryant) Like our beloved line dance it is just more intricate.
Secret Solo Delight - Hannah & Tim, Elective
Let's learn a routine that'll get your neighbors talking... you know I would tell you more.. but it's a secret.
