Welcome to Flying Home 2025—we’re so glad you’re here! Whether you’re joining us for your first big dance weekend or you’re a seasoned flyer, we’re excited to dance, learn, laugh, and build community with you in Durham, NC.

Main Dances at the Durham Armory
Intro lessons on Friday & Saturday from 8–9 PM—no partner or experience needed

  • Friday, July 11 | 9 PM–12 AM

  • Saturday, July 12 | 9 PM–12 AM
    Keenan McKenzie Orchestra featuring Brandon Mitchell on vibraphone

    • Open Mix & Match Finals during the first band break

Late Nights (Friday & Saturday) | 12:30–3 AM
Chill vibes, hot music, silly competitions, and grilled cheese.

Classes (Friday–Sunday)
A full schedule of classes for all levels—whether you’re new to Lindy Hop or deep in your dance journey.

Beginner Track (Saturday only) available for those brand-new to swing—classes plus the Saturday night dance for under $100.

Competitions
Fun, low-pressure, high-energy:

  • Open Mix & Match – Random partners, mystery music, and live band finals

  • Newcomer Mix & Match – For dancers who’ve never finaled in their role

  • Fastest Feet – The tempo rises until one couple remains

  • Fanciest Feet – A solo jazz showdown late Friday night

Special Events on Saturday

  • Unofficial Social Hour | 5:30–7 PM – Meet at the local food hall for a casual pre-dance hangout

  • BIPOC Dancer Social Hour | 7–8 PM

  • LGBTQIA+ Dancer Social Hour | 8–9 PM
